My Story…

My commercial cannabis experience began in 2010 when I moved from a small grow in my garage, to a 3500 sq. ft. empty warehouse. Since then, I’ve tried every grow style known to man. I’ve grown with aeroponics, fogoponics, flood & drain, DWC, Coco/Peat blends, native soil, amended soil, pure soluble salt hydro, certified organic living soil, and “chemganic.”

I’ve made a LOT of mistakes, killed a L O T of plants and I’ve seen friends do the same, in a million different ways. Each mistake, and every plant I’ve accidentally killed, is an important lesson learned. Those experiences learning about plants – while also managing people, selling the product, and running a cannabis business, all add up to create a well balanced big picture that helps me understand what works and what doesn’t work in this industry.

I’ve come to believe that lifelong learning is critical to being a modern cannabis cultivator. We have to let go of the dogma that we got from our garage growing days and begin questioning all the old ways. We absolutely must learn to think like a scientist, because growing plants on a commercial scale is not about having a green thumb and a bit of luck – it’s a science!

To be a successful cannabis cultivation leader, you absolutely must know how to research a topic and recognize the difference between a sales pitch and a peer reviewed scientific study. You have to have a strong understanding of chemistry, biology, physics, business management, and most of all – people management! You have to know how to source bulk products and get bulk deals on materials, because if you still shop in your neighborhood grow store… you don’t stand a chance in the future cannabis market.

I’ve worked as the grower in indoor warehouse farms, several large outdoor THC farms, a 40 acre hemp farm, a small horse-barn farm, a spotless clean-room laboratory style farm, a gigantic hemp seed production farm, a super fancy computer controlled Greenhouse, low-tech greenhouses, and I’ve done my time getting up at 4 am to pull Light-Dep tarps before dawn.

All that variety of experience is what I bring to my classes. The value I provide is that I’ve spent 10+ years working in the dirt, making mistakes and watching others make mistakes, taking notes, studying the science of cannabis farming, and getting a little bit better at it –every day.

I try to keep it humble and live by this motto…

There is no such thing as a “Master Grower.”
The closer you get, the more clearly you can see the vastness of how much you don’t yet know.

My Courses

This whole project is very new. I began working in late April of 2021 to construct the website and put the vision together.

The Drying and Curing Master Class was the first thing in my production schedule.

Eleven months later that course fically started taking registrations.

Join us on this deep dive into the Art and Science of the post harvest process.

The course objective will be to teach concepts and techniques of modern cannabis processing that will allow you to create the highest quality product that also achieves the greatest possible profit by controlling moisture loss in a very precise manner.

This course is designed for Owners, Managers and Cultivators working in a commercial setting.

The Current Standard Process consists of drying the cut flower rapidly with dehumidification set in the low 50% range. Most people know to keep the temperatures on the cool side, but few have exact targets for Temperature, Humidity, or Time. Curing is a mysterious process that is often skipped. Curing, if done at all, usually takes place in a closed bin or bucket that gets opened and exposed to the room air for a small portion of the day. This process is called “burping” the bin. Very few people have any way to measure moisture in the buds. Very few know what happens during the curing process, or how long it should take. Very few have exact protocols to preserve Terpenes. Very few know what happens in the “burp bin” technique. Very few have ever seen any scientific studies done on the process. In general, the whole process of drying and curing is filled with guesswork and rumors passed down from previous generations. The vast majority of the finished product is over 10% too dry – which means 10% of your annual income literally evaporated.

After Taking This Course every mystery will be broken apart and analyzed in simple terms that anyone can understand. You’ll learn a new way to measure and chart the progress of your crop as it moves from a fresh plant all the way to packaging. At every step of the process you’ll have measurable targets that let you know if your crop is on track, or needing a little adjustment. You’ll experience new ways of thinking about terpenes and how to preserve them. Along the journey you may find new information that has you tossing out your burp bins and completely redesigning your drying, trimming and curing rooms. The end result will be a strong understanding of what is happening to your flower product at every step of the journey and you’ll come away knowing exact environmental targets for each stage. The mystery will be gone and in it’s place will be a very exacting scientific process that any employee can follow. Your know how to dry and cure your flower to the perfect moisture content with every possible terpene still intact. The goals of this course is to teach you how get the most possible income for all your hard work, and the best possible product for your end users.
