Join Our Team of Instructors

Start with a small group (<20) of top notch Instructors that are well known experts in the Cannabis Industry, or at the least highly educated and experienced people with a scientific mindset, a love of cannabis cultivation, and good people skills. Then provide a financial motivation to produce truly in-depth educational resources that generate residual income.

The problem with producing free materials, is that they have little or no direct income value for you, the teacher, so the amount of effort you can afford to spend on producing them is minimal and never tells the full story of what you actually know on the topic.

Imagine if you got paid well for making those materials, and the more in-depth they are, the more you get paid.

With this model, you can justify spending weeks on the creation of a single course, because the better the course is, more people will want to sign up, and the more you get paid.

The more good instructors we can get on board, the more our efforts create a cumulative marketing effort that helps us all.

Each Instructor builds their own courses, and sets their own prices. Of course the price should reflect the depth of information, the difficulty of producing the course materials, and the value to the customer.

Courses are “peer reviewed” by other Instructors in the group to insure quality, adherence to modern scientific principles, and a much needed break form the old dogma which plagues our industry.

Courses can be literally anything, from a month long course that sells for $5,000, or a 3 page PDF that sells for $5.

Instructors can create and sell individual digital downloads like SOP’s, Employee Handbooks, or extended articles (eBooks) on a single topic.

When someone purchases a course or download, the money is split between the authod and the school (Cannabis Cultivation Institute) according to a pre-arranged percentage which will be starting at 80:20 for most courses. The exact percentage will depend on what it is, and how much work is done by the staff at CCI in order to prep your materials. If you do everything yourself, you make a higher percentage.

If we have to do the setup and all the course prep for you, then the school gets a higher percentage which would lower your percentage.

In any case, it will be arranged and agreed in advance so there are no surprises and everybody comes away happy.

Is producing a course feeling like too much to take on??

I totally understand that you may have the interest in this project without actually having the time to do it.

I still want to work with you if that’s the case.

We could split the course workload up something like this…

Your part:

You write the script, edit the script with me, write the quiz questions, then provide feedback on the video production.

The school’s part:

I’ll take care of editing your script, producing the sound & video, set up the course on the website, register students, manage student interaction, advertising, build and maintain website, update as needed etc.

What do you get?

Your income would be set at 35 cents per word on the finished manuscript plus the quiz questions and answers.

Once the class is set up and running, you get 80% of the enrollment fees from student registrations up to the point where your fees total $.45 per word, then the school owns the course after that point.

Your name remains listed as a partner in the co-creation of the course and you remain connected as an active instructor in the school.

You would still have a link to sell 1:1 Zoom consulting services directly through the school registration and payment process.

You could also still post articles on the website and create your own Bio page about yourself etc.

Basically you retain all the same rights and privileges as any other instructor.

For example:

Using my own course on Drying and Curing as an example: the script totals roughly 22,000 words, so as the author, my total income would be set at $9,900 and I would get 80% of each enrollment until that amount is paid out.

The main benefit of this method:

This model gives you the ability to write the script for MANY courses without the hassle of production.

After all, your knowledge is the valuable part of this program, not your ability to make a video.

You are an experienced cannabis professional, and a natural teacher who can produce informational materials. You may already be producing materials like this and giving them away for free simply to increase your own name recognition.

I’m looking for people that have both Experience, and Education. Most people have one without the other and that’s fine, but a good instructor will have a balance between the two.

People skills!  You won’t be required to teach classes in person, but you will still need to email students and deal with them in a kind and respectful manner.

Watch this video and you’ll see that making a Course is really not that complicated.  YOU CAN DO IT!

When we have a pool of instructors we can also meet online and share ideas for what works best for editing and how we go about creating materials.

  1. Register as a member.
  2. Sign up for the mailing list.
  3. Fill out the instructor application (blue link at the bottom of this page)
  4. Build your personal profile.
  5. Start creating Course materials.

Hitching your wagon to a group of highly respected individuals that are all offering valuable course materials at this one place, can generate a compound advertising effect as each instructor promotes the group every time they promote themselves.

Also, every time a student signs up for a class with one instructor, they will be exposed to the list of all the courses offered by the other instructors.

This cross networking exposes you to more students in the same way it exposes the students to more instructors.

Many people who are potential instructors already have extensive mailing lists and thousands of followers on different social media platforms.

Leveraging all those connections can quickly spread the word about this school across the globe.

Right now, you probably make your income from running a single large farm, or from 1-on-1 consulting with clients.

Either way, your influence is limited to the few who can afford to pay for your services, and by the hours in the day.

This platform will allow you to create super high quality presentations on each topic and then once they’re done, that course will be quietly generating income 24/7 while you’re out living your life.

Yes, absolutely.

You can set your own rate, sell hourly time, and get paid the same as if you’d sold a course.

Through this website, you will be able to hold private video conference type classes (consulting) with one person, or many, and you get paid through the same processing system as when you sell anything else here.

You may have already made videos or articles and posted them on various websites around the Internet. If so, you might consider using them to benefit your courses and this school by placing a small set of links at the bottom of the page which point to your courses and to this school in general. Then you can re-post that same article on this site and put links at the bottom that point back to your other articles in other places.  That cross linking helps both of us elevate our standing with the search engines.

Also, if multiple writers post articles here, we accumulate good materials in one location where it’s easier for clients to find it and eventually the site reputation grows as it becomes well known for having many teachers producing good materials in this one location.

Most people (instructors) are not willing to invest much time or energy to produce a free video or article. When an instructor gets paid to create online courses, that income creates a high motivation for them to spend the time it takes to make really good course materials that go into great depth on a single topic.

This benefits the instructor, as well as the industry as a whole.

Teaching new cultivators to think and act based on sound scientific principles helps promote that way of thinking into the future of the industry.

Course certificates are merit based and not simply an automatic thing you get just because you paid for the course.

This creates value by showing that a student holds an advanced level of understanding on the topic.

One of the most significant problems in this industry today, is knowing the difference between someone who actually has knowledge about cannabis cultivation, from one who simply talks a good line of BS.

This exam will allow an employer or job seeker to see solid evidence of a person’s cultivation knowledge.

Each course we make will require building tests and quizzes to go along with that course and all those questions remain in a “question pool.”

This creates an opportunity to make one huge test that includes all the questions from all of our courses.

This will be used to create a “Grill Your Grower” quiz that companies can use to vette a prospective employee.

This also allows us to make corporate accounts where a company can use our tests to advance people, or place them in the right department, based on their knowledge.

On the to-do list is to install a plugin that will automatically require students to sign an NDA contract as part of the course registration process for each course.

Of course this won’t absolutely prevent people from copying our work, but it will provide a good legal standing for any copyright infringement problems.

Most people start out thinking that they don’t know enough to teach a class simply because you don’t remember what it’s like to NOT know what’s in your head.

You’ve spent YEARS studying and learning to get the knowledge you hold today.

In reality, all over the world, there are people that are truly hungry for the knowledge in your head, and they would be delighted to pay you to teach them what you know.

I’m seeking people that are willing to make every effort to stay within the general boundaries of sound scientific principles.

If your grow style is based on belief and dogma, you will be challenged at every turn and you won’t like it here.

I also reserve the right to withhold or withdraw publication of materials that are not justified by real evidence and scientific principles.

You should be prepared to quote your sources, or simply state that what you are saying is your opinion. The opinion of an experienced person is highly valuable, but it should always be clear when you have no data or other backing to justify a statement.

In essence, I’m looking for people who value looking at things with a scientific approach.

For the purpose of this school, I do not want to require that you wear fancy clothing or labcoats or any of that sort of professionalism when you show yourself in the courses you create.

I would like to encourage instructors to be entertaining, upbeat and fun but how you present yourself is up to you.

The only place where I would like to draw a firm line in the sand is in the consumption of cannabis.

I believe that this is absolutely NOT the place to be taking a big bong rip in the intro of the video as you get ready to talk to your audience.

Courses should not show any use of cannabis, and keep all smoking paraphernalia completely out of sight in your videos and course materials.

The goal of this limitation is simply to promote a professional and science oriented impression of the school.

The focus of this school is obviously centered around Cultivation.

However, that can also include things like Business skills, sales negotiation, tracking software like METRC, and other side topics that are important to professional cultivators.

Topics to avoid…

   * Medicinal aspects of cannabis

   * Dispensary training or management

   * Investing

Some of you may have the education and experience, but you don’t have time at the moment to produce a course.

I hope you’ll consider the possibility of simply being available in an advisory role to help preview the materials produced by others.

When a course is posted there is an option in the setup section to split the student fees between two or more people so that each one gets a certain percentage. So with a normal course, I would put in the percentage that goes to the instructor, and the percentage that goes to the school and the software keeps track of instructor earnings which you should be able to see from your instructor profile page. Then on a biweekly basis, I pull it up and send out payments to instructors via paypal, venmo or bank transfer depending on what you have set up.

To start out, I’m setting the split at 80:20 but it’s possible to make that split custom to each course or download.

In general, the more finished your course is the easier it is for me to get it set up and the higher percentage you should make. However, if I end up doing a lot of work to get a course complete and ready to sell, then the percentage could be set more like 60:40.

For now… No.

For now, each instructor makes courses on a “Freelance” basis.

You are responsible for your own record keeping and taxes as an Independent Contractor.

Unfortunately this is the nature of a Bootstrapped business – which this is.

I’ve been working on building the school website and my own first course with no income from that labor (11 months now) so I know exactly how difficult this is, but until the school gets a regular flow of income, there is no other way for us to get this thing off the ground than by building it first and getting paid later.

On a positive note… as of Feb/March 2022 when the first course opened up, I’ve got 5 paying students for a total of $1500 in the first two months of opening. So the need is out there, we just have to build courses for them to purchase.

If you think you’ve got the skills and the determination it takes to become and Instructor, I would LOVE to hear from you.

If producing the media for a class sounds intimidating, don’t let that stop you because there are tons of educational materials that can help you get started.

I hope you’ll take the first step by filling out this form.
